Hindu deity Krishna had spent his early childhood at this place. The town was erected on the forest upon the Yamuna River. Many events took place in history here. Like Krishna did the divine dance with Gopis (MAHARAAS). Both Radha and Krishna love story is famous in this place.
 
The lord has vanished many demons at this place and showed his supremacy. Hindu considers it a major Pilgrimage destination. It has around 5000 temples.
 
On 1515, Chaitanya the Bengali saint visited Vrindavan first. He wandered into the forest to have located the original site of Krishna; modern pilgrimage is based on his identifications. The place is the sheltered city of the windows too as considered. They here find peace, meal and the small amount of money in exchange of bhajans they sing in ashrams. Around 20, 000 widows are here who are very old.

How to reach Vrindavan?

Vrindavan is 150 km away from south-Delhi. The nearest station of the train is Mathura, the twin city of Vrindavan, it is about 12 km i.e 20 minutes away by rickshaw. Agra is 150 km away from Vrindavan, people would come to Agra after visiting Vrindavan or vice-versa. Virdavan lies in-between it the golden triangle- Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Vrindavan;  
 
What to see in Vrindavan?
 
Temple entry is free, but shoe handlers will ask coins, so keep it with you. Photography in some temples is allowed, so inquire if you want to have snapshots.

Famous temples in Vrindavan

  1. Bihariji - It was a well-known temple in Vrindavan streets. Krishna idol, named as Thakurji is kept. The eyes according to people saying are powerful, kept open, and close every few minutes.
  2. Mandir Shri Dham goda Vihar - Temples has around 200 idols and is a perfect showcase of Hindu chronology and faith. It reflects devotion.
  3. Govinda Dev Mandir - It was built by Raja Sawai Jai Singh in1590. He was Rajput King. This bulky temple has four stories. Royal authority of Aurangzeb’s terror slashed it. Now, it is totally sheltered by playful monkeys.    
  4. Jaigurudeo temple - The temple is known as “Naam Yog Sadhna Mandir”. It has marble body like Taj Mahal. If you eat non-vegetarian food then you are banned to make a donation.
  5. Krishna Balaram Mandir - It is better to call it an ISKCON Temple. Hare Krishna (Pilgrims) Visit the temple extremely. Free breakfast and lunches made presented to visitors. Great food and calming consign for relaxation are features of the temple.
  6. Kesi ghat - Aartis are offered here at evening. At this ghat, Krishna killed the demon Kesi and celebrated victory by taking a bath.
  7. Seva Kunj - No. of Tulsi plants were planted here.It is believe that beautiful dance of Gopis and Krishna happens here, at Moti Mahal lord Krishna spend a night locked with beloved Radhaji every day.
  8. Rangji Mandir - Largest temple of Vrindavan was built in 1851 in South Indian style. There is a seven-story gateway at the entrance of the temple. Inside is a 50 ft high chariot of wooden that is taken out yearly. There is 50 feet high gold-plated pillar that is Dhwaja Stambha.
  9. Radha Vallabh Mandir - An ancient temple of Vrindavan that is opened by Shri Hith Harivansh Mahaprabhu. The idol inside temple resembles Sri Krishna and Radha together- one soul two bodies.
  10. Radha Raman Mandir -The embodies of Radharani is self-manifested from shalagram shila.

What you can do in Vrindavan?

  • The festival known as Brahmotsava is held after Holi in the month of (February and March). Around one lakh people attend visitors. Rath ka Mela is a giant wooden chariot pulled devotees from Rangji temple to its ground.
  • You can attend the Sandhya (Evening aarti), at ISKON. The timings are 7:00 PM in summers and 6:30 PM in winter. People here sing, dance and chant.
  • Hindu Pilgrims do Parikrama; it is about the six-kilometre walk. It was good to start it early in the morning.
  • Nidhi van- This is a place of relaxation of Krishna. The shrine was decorated with flowers every morning because according to believe the Lord visited this place with Radhaji.
  • Excellent Indian food is served behind ISKON temple. There is a multi-cuisine restaurant with casual dining concept.
  • Must try Lassi, the incredible drink served in addition Jal zeera is another specialty of this region.
