Haridwar

 

Haridwar is widely respected as the holiest and most sanctified town in India with immense historic features. It is widely believed that the name Haridwar means “Gateway of God." For this reason, numerous believers flock there to shower with "holy water."

Haridwar is located in Uttarakhand in India and covers an area of close to 2360 square kilometers. The city is sandwiched between the famous Shivalik Hills and River Ganges.

The third attraction site in Haridwar is the Daksha Mahadev temple that is situated approximately 6 kilometers from Har-Ki-Paura. The magnificent temple is in honor of Lord Shiva. It was named after King Daksha Prajapati. 

 

The fourth site is the Fun Valley water park located between Rishikesh and Dehradun. Here, tourists can get the most memorable water sliding experience of their lives. Who would forget Kushavarta Ghat, which is over three centuries old? This is considered to be the holiest ghat in Haridwar. Important rituals and rites used and still are, to be performed at the shores of the river. Some of these rituals include Shraddha rites. Tourists visit this place to dip themselves in the sacred Ganges waters.

 

Gauri Shankar Mahadev temple is also located in Haridwar and is known to lure innumerable tourist daily. The holy temple is situated in Bilkeswar Nagar and is mainly in honor of Lord Shiva. It has plenty of captivating picturesque locales. Important to note is that the majority of the tourist that visit the temple carry flowers and incense sticks in the hope each of their wishes will be realized upon praying at that temple.

 

Another tourist-attracting site in Haridwar is Neel Dhara Pakshi situated at Bhimgoda Barrage. This is the best hub for many migratory birds usually during the winter season. Close by are other sites such as Maya Devi temple, Chandi Devi temple as well as Mansa Devi temple, outlined earlier.

 

Nobody can forget the massive Bhimgoda tank close to Birla Ghat in Haridwar. It is widely known as the sacred water tank. It is named after Bhima. It contains holy water of Ganges with beautiful lush gardens surrounding it. It also has water fountains and watered flower beds, which makes the spot extremely eye-catching.
