Brief History of Hawa Mahal:
In 1799 Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh built this palace. The designing of this place was done by Lal Chand Ustad. He designed this Mahal which has 953 small windows which are known as the jharokhas. The main intention of the windows was that the royal ladies can observe the festive activities etc from the windows. These windows also gave that cooling due to the breeze that comes in through the windows. In the year 2006 renovation work was taken up. The total estimated cost of this renovation was estimated to be Rs 4568 million. The Unit Trust of India has adopted this heritage monument and they are responsible for its maintenance.
